In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved. This will create a simple syrup.
Remove the simple syrup from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
In a pitcher, combine the Italian Volcano lemon juice with the remaining 3 cups of cold water.
Once the simple syrup has cooled, add it to the pitcher with the Italian Volcano lemon juice and water mixture. Stir well to combine.
Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.
Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled lemonade over the ice.
Garnish each glass with a sprig of fresh mint, if desired.
Stir the lemonade before serving, as the sugar may settle at the bottom of the pitcher.
